The upcoming statewide 2026 consumer campaign is designed to encourage Queenslanders to think differently about their cardiovascular health and start a conversation with their general practice.
Launching in mid October, now’s the time to prepare your practice teams around Heart Health Checks.
The campaign will use familiar mileage, servicing and engine language to make preventive heart health easier to relate to. Different people, locations and executions can be used across Queensland while keeping a consistent core idea.
Campaign materials will be placed in different everyday settings across Queensland to help reach different communities where they are.
The campaign will help people recognise that cardiovascular risk can be assessed and give them a reason to start the conversation.
We’re working with reception staff, nursing and clinical teams to provide information and resources before the campaign starts.
The localised Queensland campaign is designed to make heart health feel personally relevant and prompt a conversation with general practice.
Outdoor, digital and community advertising will create a curiosity and encourage consumers to discover their heart’s mileage.
The My Heart Mileage Report will estimate lifetime heart statistics using generalised information and averages, and a bit of fun!
The personalised results may prompt the person to ask their GP whether a Heart Health Check is right for them.
Talk to your regular GP (or find a GP) prompts will encourage people to ask their practice about Heart Health Checks, including appointments and fees.
The practice confirms the most suitable clinical pathway, current requirements, appointment type and billing arrangements.

People may use the campaign’s everyday language rather than clinical terminology. The important thing is that your team recognises the prompt and knows what to do next.

Patients may repeat campaign language rather than ask for a specific assessment.
Practice teams should have a clear booking and clinical pathway ready.
The provider rollout is designed to help practices prepare for campaign-generated interest ahead of time and to make the most of the focused interest in heart health.
Make sure reception, nurses and GPs are aware of the upcoming campaign, starting mid October, and the questions patients may ask.
Decide how your practice will respond and how appropriate appointments or assessments will be booked.
Consider proactive identification and follow-up of people who may benefit from cardiovascular risk assessment. A range of campaign tools, like posters, are available through your local PHN. A digital media kit will also be available to download soon.
Draw on factsheets, webinar recordings, QI tools, Primary Sense guidance, audit support and HealthPathways to strengthen your broader CVD prevention approach.
This is a great opportunity for primary care providers to maximise the interest from the campaign to encourage preventive conversations. Your PHN teams can support your readiness.
The primary media campaign is expected to run from mid-October to early December 2026, subject to final media planning and confirmed bookings. The campaign website will remain live throughout 2027 and campaign materials may continue to be used during this time. PHN teams and providers will be advised in advance of any future plans to close the website.

Provide a simple booking and escalation pathway so non-clinical staff can respond consistently without needing to interpret clinical eligibility.
Yes. The planned digital campaign kit will include ready-to-use materials for you to engage with your patients and to support the broader campaign.
Not yet. They are being finalised and will be available before consumer media launches. PHN teams will be able to provide printed assets in the first instance. You can contact the PHASES project teams here if you have any questions or requests.

Funded by the Queensland Health Clinical Research Fellowship, the PHASES Linkage project connects general practice cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk data with hospitalisation and mortality data. This study aims to better understand how CVD risk impacts hospitalisation rates and assess the accuracy of the new CVD risk prediction equation in identifying high-risk individuals within Queensland’s population.
The project will:
Running in parallel with the PHASES project, PHASES Linkage highlights the power of data-driven insights to improve cardiovascular outcomes and reduce hospitalisations.
